Power Plants: Transforming Food, Energy and Water Security through Agriculture

The fourth edition of the annual OpenAg Symposium will continue to build on previous years’ conversations about the future of food and agriculture in a changing climate. This year, as farmers and food systems contend with a growing number of threats and challenges globally, this edition will focus on how agricultural practices not only contribute to national and international food security but also to the financial stability of farmers and the broader economic security of nations.

Climate change poses a significant threat to both water and energy security, thereby affecting food systems globally. The symposium will underscore the importance of sustainable agricultural practices in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and mitigating the impacts of climate change. By adopting practices that enhance resilience and sustainability, the agricultural sector can play a pivotal role in securing food, water, and energy resources for the future.

OpenAg Symposium 2024 aims to investigate the role of sustainable agriculture in the matters of global security. The world has witnessed the fragility of supply chains through several examples of conflict in the recent years. The symposium will reflect and address how various stakeholders adapt to these changes.
