Reimagining the Role of Global Agriculture on the Path to Net Zero Emissions

The agricultural sector produces close to a quarter of all global greenhouse gas emissions as it attempts to meet growing food demands worldwide. Conversely, agricultural land can also act as a “carbon sink”, granting the sector massive potential in global decarbonisation strategies as a pathway to overall Net Zero emissions.

Following COP26 in Glasgow and a fruitful inaugural conference, the second ever OpenAg Symposium brought together a select group of leading academics, policymakers, industry figures, and NGO leaders from across the world to explore the two-way links between climate change and global food systems. Held at the Blavatnik School of Government, the conference drew on the world-class research at Oxford and other academic institutions to facilitate solution-oriented discussions about the future of food and sustainable agriculture in a Net Zero world.
