Dr Kate Lamont
My current projects draw from experience as a qualitative social scientist in multi-disciplinary research in human health, veterinary medicine, and rural community development.
I am currently working on projects on the themes of mental health and wellbeing (with a focus on rural / agricultural workers) and biosecurity in farming of livestock (with a focus on Johne’s Disease, PRRS and roundworm).
I sit on the social science ethics committee (as co-chair) and am interested in research methods which are acceptable to farmers, and which promote engagement in research (including co-production, co-design and peer research methods).
I am based in the Centre for Epidemiology and Planetary Health (CEPH) in Inverness where I head the Public health, Diseases Surveillance & Epidemiology team.
