Dr. Timothy Foster

Reader in Water-Food Security, University of Manchester 

Dr. Tim Foster is a Reader in Water-Food Security at the University of Manchester, leading the Agriculture, Water and Climate (AWC) Research Group. His interdisciplinary research focuses on sustainable agricultural production, water resource management, and climate resilience.

Dr. Foster's work addresses key questions about water use patterns in agriculture, their impact on productivity and rural economies, and strategies for sustainable water management. His team employs diverse methods from hydrology, agronomy, engineering, and economics.

With projects spanning from high-productivity farming in North America to smallholder agriculture in Africa and Asia, Dr. Foster collaborates with local researchers, governments, and international organizations to inform policy and development programs.

Dr. Foster holds a Ph.D. in Hydrology from Imperial College London and previously worked at the University of Nebraska's Water for Food Global Institute.
