Madhura Swaminathan
Madhura Swaminathan is Professor and Head of the Economic Analysis Unit, Indian Statistical Institute, Bangalore, and Chairperson of the M S Swaminathan Research Foundation, Chennai. She has a doctorate in Economics from the University of Oxford and has worked on issues of food security, agriculture and rural development for over 25 years. She has authored and edited ten books, the most recent being Women and Work in Rural India (Tulika Books 2020). She was a member of the Government of India’s High Level Panel on Long Term Food Security, a member of Committee of Development Policy of the United Nations, and a co-author of a report on Multistakeholder Partnerships prepared by the High Level Panel of Experts of the FAO. Presently, she serves on the Council of Advisors of the World Food Prize Foundation.
